Hyde made the long trip to Lincolnshire on Tuesday but failed to take any points from a close relegation battle despite having much of the play. Conditions were difficult at the Northolme with a very dry bumpy pitch making good football impossible.

The Tigers gave a debut to on loan ‘keeper Mark Halstead who was deputising for the injured Michael Jones and he was soon in action saving from Luke Beckett. Kevin Holsgrove had an early chance well saved by Phillip Barnes but it was Beckett who put the home side ahead on 16 minutes when his close range header just crept over the line.

Scott Mooney equalised for Hyde on 35 minutes when he headed home following a cross from Matty Burke. Thereafter it was very much a dour encounter with neither side having enough composure in the middle of the field.

Just when it looked like the sides would share the spoils, Hyde didn’t deal with a long throw from Ryan Toulson and Lewis McMahon was on hand to scramble the ball home. This left the Tigers 13 minutes to snatch a draw but despite intense pressure and numerous close shaves they failed to find the net. It was very much ‘what might have been’ if only Hyde had showed the same energy earlier in the half rather than waiting to go behind before they started to play.
