An unofficial site recording the results and player stats of the Tigers.

Mike Pavasovic

This site wouldn't exist without the efforts of Hyde United club historian, Mike Pavasovic.
He has written four books documenting the history of the club and it's predecessor, Hyde FC.

Charlie Barber's Boys: A History of Hyde FC (1885-1917)
Black and White: The Red All Over (1919-1942)
Earning Their Stripes (1946-1982, with an update to 2011)
Tiger Topics: A Hyde FC Miscellany

Much of the data in this site, especially pre 1990, is based upon the research that Mike took on for these books and it is with much gratitude that this site compiles that information for your perusal.

You want to know more about Mike? Here he is in his own words....

MIKE PAV has been involved with Hyde United for almost 50 years. He joined the supporters' club committee in 1980 and served as secretary for 15 years.
From 1980 to 1989 he was programme editor and in those pre-internet and computer days compiled and typed each issue before printing them by hand in Dave Goodwin's garage.
For more than 30 years Pav was a professional journalist, covering the non-league game in print and on the radio. He was sports editor for the old Ashton-under-Lyne Reporter Group from 1987 to 1999, and BBC Radio Manchester's non-league reporter from 1995 to 2010. From 2010 to 2014 he hosted a highly popular Friday night radio programme about the Tameside semi-professional scene.
Pav has also published a four-volume history of Hyde United from 1885 to 2014 which took him eight years to research, spending countless hours in Tameside Local Studies and Archives Centre.
From 2014 to 2022 he compiled his Pav's Patch blog which comprised weekend previews, news and post-match interviews offering an independent alternative to the in-house stories on club websites.
Pav now sells match programmes at Hyde United having been sacked as PA announcer for making too many mistakes.

Mike Pavasovic can be found online as follows...

His Twitter account — @charliebunyan — is a tribute to Hyde's goalkeeper in the 26-0 FA Cup defeat by Preston in 1887.
