Whitby were 2-0 winners on a windy and rainy afternoon at Ewen Fields thanks to goals from Daniel Rowe and Paul Blackett.

The visitors were the better side in the first half, mainly due to the fact that they weren’t kicking into the wind, which the tigers struggled to deal with. The opening 45 had very few chances for either side but Whitby did manage to go into the break ahead. Rowe finished a quick passing move placing the ball past Mewitt.

The second half was a reverse of the first, with Whitby struggling to play into the wind and Hyde having numerous chances. The home side thought they were level on 50 minutes as Pratt beat several defenders in the box and curled a shot that hit the inside of the box, rolling across the goal line and bouncing out.

Despite the chances, there were signs that the visitors always had another goal in them. Blackett, having missed 2 similar chances only a couple of minutes before didnt make the same mistake again as he slotted in when through on goal.

The game slowly spiralled out of control as the referee brandished yellow cards, a total of 10 in the game, and Whitby took all 3 points back to North Yorkshire.
