Hyde had the better of the first half and arguably should have gone in ahead with a good few chances for Nicky Platt somehow managing to avoid the net. The visitors were helped out by keeper Lloyd Rigby who kept the scoreline level rushing out to stop Platt and a few minutes later superbly tipping a Smalley header onto the cross bar. The second half was effectively the opposite from the first with the tigers failing to take hold of the game only having a Lane shot wide to shout about. It was all Bamber Bridge who picked up the second balls and increased the tempo. They earned their first from a Booth corner where Charnock rose highest to head the ball into the bottom corner past an outstretched Crook. They sealed the game later in the second half when man of the match Waddecar ran to win back the ball inside the box being tripped up to win a penalty. He stepped up calmly to send Crook the wrong way and seal the vital win that puts Bamber back in the race for safety in a tight relegation battle. By George Rothwell |
