Stalybridge Celtic: Not available
Hyde United: Jonathan Scargill, Darren Esdaille, Richard Annan, Gus Wilson, Don Page, Tony Rodwell, Lloyd Richardson (Jason Hardy), Neil Hall, Peter Band, Darren Washington (Steve Haw), Prince Moncrieffe
Stalybridge had the better of the first half with Filson and Sullivan causing problems for the un-tried Hyde defence. Scargill made two outstanding saves with The Tigers reduced to only a couple of long range shots which were easy for Statham. The crowd were up for this game, and the shed end on tour were easily winning the singing battle. The second half saw Celtic kick downhill, this seemed to be detrimental to them as all they could do was hoof long balls towards Filson. Celtic were denied a penalty when Gus Wilson handballed, but to be fair he didn't know it until it struck him. Wilson then burst forward from the back, played a one-two with Band and forced Statham into a brave save at his feet. The corner resulted in Band heading straight at Statham. Steve Haw replaced Washington and made an immediate impact, shooting into the bottom corner following a corner kick. Stalybridge were then handed a lifeline when a cross from the right was handled and Power hit the penalty dead straight to beat Scargill. Hyde should have had a penalty with seconds to go as Power clipped Haw, but the little man kept his feet and shot inches over the bar. Extra Time saw Moncrieffe go close for The Tigers, but with a midfield of Rodwell, Richardson and Hall, who were all recovering from injury, the game was starting to pass them by. A long ball over the top beat Celtic's offside trap and when the Goalkeeper advanced, Prince Moncrieffe calmly lifted the ball over his head and into the goal.
