Worksop started brightly when on 5 minutes, a header from a corner whistled past the post. At the other end, Simon Yeo headed over from an Annan corner kick. Worksop took the lead on 12 minutes when Linden Whitehead drilled home from the edge of the box after the Hyde defence had failed to clear. Prince Moncrieffe then had a chance when he blocked a Worksop clearance, but he fired well wide of the target. Hyde's only shot on target in the first half came on 26 minutes when Yeo turned his defender but shot straight at Holmshaw in the Worksop goal. Worksop should have added a second when they broke away 3 on 2, the ball was passed left and the forward hit his shot just over. Worksop had the ball in the net on the stroke of half-time but the referee adjudged that Scargill had been fouled in the process and disallowed the goal. The Second Half saw Hyde attack from the off, Neil Hall hit a fierce drive just over and Steve Haw guided a looping header over the crossbar. Paul Taylor tried his luck from 30 yards but his effort never really troubled Holmshaw. Worksop reminded Hyde that there were two teams in the match when Gus Wilson superbly blocked a goal bound shot and then Worksop scored a second in the 65th minute when Lee Hobson headed home a free kick from the right. Paul Taylor then forced a stunning save from Holmshaw when his powerful header looked to have given Hyde a way back into the game. Hyde pressed on but only a last minute header from Washington looked like troubling the Home side's goal.
