Altrincham: Not available

Altrincham's late goal secured all three points for the league leaders and it was no less than they deserved. A poor first half performance by both sides started when Simon Yeo ran down the right, beat his defender and hit a powerful shot straight at Coburn. Phil Power almost scored for The Robins when he burst into the penalty area but his shot flew past the far post. Ex-Tiger Ricky Harris then went close when his near post header from a corner drifted just wide. Leroy Chambers then caught Hyde on the break but Paul Taylor raced back and made a superb sliding tackle to deny the former Boston striker. Altrincham had a goal ruled out for offside on 40 minutes when a cross from the left was headed in by Power. Hyde were awarded a free-kick just before half-time which Paul Taylor powerfully struck just over the bar. The second half was a different game, as Altrincham started to show the 964 spectators just why they were top of the league. Jon Scargill saved bravely at the feet of Chambers and then Chambers volleyed a shot inches wide after good work by Gallagher. A corner kick led to Harris heading against the angle of the goal and then on 59 minutes Phil Power hit a twenty yard shot against the crossbar. The constant pressure continued without many chances being made and then Hyde nearly robbed Altrincham on 75 minutes when an unmarked Steve Haw headed Chris Dolby's free-kick wide from 5 yards. The inevitable goal came for Altrincham on 83 minutes when Don Page got caught with the ball in the centre, it was worked out left where Paul Robertson's cross was guided in to bottom corner by Phil Power 's chest. We have now lost 4 home games this season, all by the odd goal and all the winners being scored in the last ten minutes.
