This game was not as close as it sounds. Bishop Auckland were the worst side we have played this season by quite a way and yet if it was not for the crossbar we may have lost!. Hyde came out with real sense of attack, Simon Yeo tackled back and laid the ball to Band who fed Rodwell whose cross was met on the half-volley by Yeo but he could only find the side net. Tony Rodwell's corner on 10 minutes was met by Paul Taylor but his header was blocked and Peter Band volleyed home the loose ball. Hyde almost scored again in freak style when a backpass bobbled over Bishop's goalkeeper Jones' foot and went inches wide. Richard Annan's cross/shot almost deceived the goalkeeper late in the half but it drifted past the post. Early in the Second Half, Simon Yeo knocked the ball past the goalkeeper but a defender managed to get back and clear. A free-kick wide on the right caused the home goalkeeper to panic after Annan curled in a great shot, but Jones managed to push the ball behind. The Tigers inability to finish off teams almost cost them the game when Bishop Auckland realized that despite the fact they'd been slaughtered, there was only a goal in it. A left-wing corner was met by the big centre-half who firmly headed against the crossbar. A cross from the right led to Edgington leaping to his right to tip a point-blank header onto the bar, a remarkable save. Simon Yeo missing a great chance to sew up the points when he headed wide from 4 yards. In the ninth minute of stoppage time, Bishop Auckland again hit the crossbar, this time the ball dropped to a blue shirt but Gus Wilson dived to block the shot.
