Accrington Stanley: Not available

Although Hyde had the early pressure, it was bottom of the table Accrington who had the first real chance. Neil Hall's poor backpass was met by O'Callaghan but Edgington just managed to block the strikers shot. On 16 minutes Simon Yeo's deflected shot was turned round the post by Speare and from the resulting corner Don Page rattled the crossbar with a header. Hyde took the lead on 19 minutes when Speare's poor clearance landed at the feet of Simon Yeo who promptly placed the ball over the goalkeeper's head. Edgington rushed out to collect a cross but Heavey beat him to the ball and headed over for Stanley shortly before Hyde extended their lead. On 37 minutes, Simon Yeo chested the ball down on the edge of the box before volleying against the post, the ball bounced out and hit Speare on the head before rolling over the line. Early in the second half, Yeo missed the chance of his hat-trick when he blasted wide after racing clear of the defence. Again Yeo missed his chance of glory, this time he headed Chris Dolby's cross wide. Dolby then beat the full-back before striking a powerful shot which the goalkeeper did well to hold on to. Billy O'Callaghan made a good run behind the Hyde defence on 78 minutes and when the ball was played to him, he made no mistake, shooting through Edgington's legs to give Stanley some hope. Steve Haw's super pass released Dolby down the left who them steered the ball towards Simon Yeo who headed past Speare for his hat-trick (90 minutes). There was still time for Accrington to score again, this time Paul Heavey scored with a flying volley to make the result seem close.
