Northern Premier League Challenge Cup 3rd Round

Marine1Bainbridge (4)
Hyde United0

Attendance: 104

Marine: Stewart, Wareing, Proctor, Bainbridge, McNally, Randles, Thompson, Nolan, Taylor, Keegan, Culshaw. Subs: Black, Hussin, Dolan

Hyde United: Nick Stephens, Scott Westwood, Mike Lomax, Dominic Crookes, Paul Ashwell, Dave Swanick, Mike Meszaros (Paul McGuire), Andy Shelton, Ryan Hevicon, Lee Evans, Rick Whelan. Subs not used: Steve Foster, Steve Lyons.

Hyde bowed out of the league cup on Monday at Marine after conceding a goal on four minutes and never really looking like getting back in the game. It was a familiar story for the Tigers with little creativity in the middle of the field and no punch up front. It was a disappointing end to the cup run after 2 good victories in the previous rounds.

Marine took the lead on four minutes through Rick Bainbridge and that basically sealed matters. Hyde welcomed back Mike Lomax, Paul Ashwell and Ryan Hevicon and gave a debut to Nick Stephens in goal, but it was in attack where Hyde struggled without Steve Foster.

At least we can concentrate on the league as they say!
