Hyde were as good as the score line suggests. From the opening flurries through to the final minute this was The Tigers in top form and purring.

The game started with a minute’s applause, in remembrance of Sam Berkley who sadly lost his life earlier this week, which was respectfully observed by both teams and all 371 fans inside Ewen Fields.

The opening exchanges had both sides in possession of the ball, but Hyde looked switched on and positive when in possession. The boys are playing much more football, with progression from back to front rather than hitting the front early, and this is allowing the technical ability and pace in the side to show itself. Tom Pratt was outstanding throughout, and it was right that he opened the scoring picking up a pass slipped through to him by the energetic Luke Porritt before firing a goal bound shot which the Trafford keeper was unable to keep out. 1-0 Hyde

The only surprise in the game was the equaliser from Trafford. It was there only real shot towards the Hyde goal, and it only evaded Peter Crook because of a wild deflection. 1-1

On 37 minutes order was restored when Luke Porritt drove down the left, beating three before digging out a left foot cross which Karl Jones rose like a salmon to head home from about 8 yards out. 2-1 Hyde

Two minutes later and Matty Beadle, back in form and in the goals, fired an unstoppable left foot shot from 25 yards which moved all over the place before bulging the inside of the Trafford Goal

HT : 3-1 HYDE UNITED FC

The second half started with Hyde very much on the front foot and pushing 10 yards up field to engage with the Trafford back five who were determined to play out from the back. Hyde caused all sorts of problems, regaining the ball in the attacking third and forcing Trafford to play quick and loose the ball. It was a matter of time before the Tigers added to their score, and it was that man Tom Pratt who chased and tackled, winning back the ball himself before finishing neatly to make it 4-1.

Trafford lost their shape and Hyde were able to roll on the subs with Churchman for Big, Dominic Marie for Beadle and Dave Brown for Porritt.

The final 10 minutes were all Hyde, and Dave brown helped himself to two strikers goals, finishing neatly from inside the box with his right foot from a Tom Pratt pull back, and then completing the scoring with a beautiful left foot dink over the outrushing keeper after running clear onto a Janni Lipka pass.
