Northern Premier League Premier Division

Leigh RMI0
Hyde United0

Attendance: 427

Leigh RMI: Felgate, Locke, German, Butler, Turkington, Harris, Monk, Ridings, Ross, Black, Patterson. Subs: Matthews, Smith, Quinn.

Hyde United: Graham Bennett, Gus Wilson, John Foster, Brendan Aspinall, Paul Taylor, Peter Band (Darren McConnell), Steve Tobin, Neil Hall, Simon Yeo (Stuart Walker), Jody Banim, Paul Robertson. Subs not used: Darren Esdaille.

Early on it was Hyde who had the better chances, first Neil Hall crossed from the right but Peter Band's header went straight into Felgate's arms. Jody Banim then tested Felgate from 25 yards but didn't get any power behind his shot. Top of the table Leigh then should have done better with two crosses, bad marking left Black on his own but he was stretching on both occasions. Just before the break, Simon Yeo burst away from the last defender but with just Felgate to beat he shot wide of the target. The Tigers got lucky in the second half when inside the six yard box, Paul Taylor made a flying block tackle to stop a certain goal. Matthews then went close for Leigh with a bending 20 yard shot which almost curled in. Jody Banim broke away from the defence following a mistake but with just Felgate to beat he also shot wide. Darren McConnell was the next player to test Felgate but his 18 yard volley went straight at the big goalkeeper. The game was pretty poor with Leigh having most of the possession but with Hyde having two 1 on 1 situations, they should have taken all the points.
