We should all be very proud of our Club tonight. A massive WELL DONE to the players, the Academy, the manager and coaching staff who secured Hyde United FCs first ever away win on Penalty kicks.

This was a makeshift squad, with only five of the players who started in the league game against Clitheroe in the squad and eight Academy players included. We also got our first look at Paddy Miller who made his debut at centre half and Captain.

Hyde started well and enjoyed the balance of the play and the ball in the opening 20 minutes with the best chance falling to Pilkington who had his header off a Ryan Ellison cross cleared off the line. Chester created their first chance in the 21st minute, forcing a good save from the Hyde keeper and they scored from the resulting corner with a close range tap in.

HT 1-0 CHESTER FC

The opening period of the second half was also controlled by Hyde, with Pete Boyle forcing two excellent saves from the Chester keeper but it was Chester who doubled their lead on 62 minutes when James Jones was able to side foot home from a deflected cross.

Darren immediately made changes, with Oliver Ford replacing Daniel Pilkington and shortly after Lewis Haydock replaced Sam Fitton. The impact was almost immediate, with the fresh legs giving Hyde the upper hand in terms of possession and the momentum swung towards the Tigers when Pete Boyle hammered a peach of a 25 yard free kick into the Chester goal on 75 minutes making it 2-1 and the comeback was complete four minutes later when Jamal Branker slid the ball home. 2-2 with eleven to play.

FT 2-2

Extra time started with Darren making his final substitute bringing on Louis Holt for his first team debut.

Chester drew first blood one minute into the period, when Nathan Brown seizing on a mistake by the Hyde keeper to fire home and retake the led. 3-2 Chester. The Tigers didn't let their heads drop, driven on by the very vocal Lewis Haydock in midfield.

The best was still to come with the first period of extra time about to end, Oliver Ford completed an unbelievable overhead volley, hammering the ball into the Chester net. 3-3

The second period of extra time was controlled by the tigers, and the final minute had Chester scrambling to clear a Matt Dempsey shot off the line, and a Pete Boyle free kick, but without any further scoring the referee blew for full time and penalty kicks.

FT (AET) 3-3

Penatly kicks were taken and scored by the Academy players. Pete Boyle, Oli Ford, Lewis Haydock and Louis Holt all scored, with Ryan Crump saving the Chester fifth, before Paddy Miller put the tigers up 5-4 and Ryan Crump again got down low to his left to grab hold of the ball and see the Tigers home for their first ever away win on penalty kicks..

Well done to Joe Hardcastle and Nathan Edwards who didn't make it on but were part of the squad. Sam Fitton, Ryan Ellison and Pete Boyle who started with substitutes Oli Ford, Lewis Haydock and Louis Holt who made his debut.

Special mention to the Academy boys who scored, Pete Boyle with a 25 yard free kick to get the Tigers on the road back from 2-0 down with their first goal and Oli Ford with an amazing volley to bring it back to 3-3
