Hyde started well, but it was the visitors who carried more of a threat in the opening 45 minutes, playing effective football, using the channels well and feeding off the experienced Mike Norton up front. Hyde did well to keep them at bay, but conceded on 26 minutes when a speculative ball into the box was met by Norton six yards out, and the looping effort crept in off the inside of the right hand post. 1-0 Glossop. The final 5 minutes of the half had Hyde showing some improvement and young Ryan White looked a threat delivering a couple of excellent crosses into the box. HT 1-0 Glossop NE Hyde were out early from the changing rooms, having listened to Darren talking them through a couple of minor changes to how he wanted them to play. It was Hyde who immediately grabbed hold of the half and shook it into life. There was more crispness to the passing, and they were much closer to Glossop, winning back the ball and forcing mistakes. Two minutes into the half, and the ball was won back in the Glossop half, and quickly played out to Ryan White on the left. He dropped his shoulder twice before firing over a peach of a left foot cross which was met in the air by goal machine Matthew Beadle to score his third goal in as many games, bringing the tigers level. 1-1. Glossop were standing off, and the midfield of Hyde took advantage carving out two or three excellent chances with Big forcing an error rom the keeper, allowing him to fire towards goal, only to see it cleared by the fullback. Matthew Beadle and Dave McGurk both had excellent chances to take the lead. On 87 minutes, Glossop had the ball in the back of the Hyde net, but the forward was in an offside position when the cross came in and the flag was raised. This only forced the Tigers onto the front foot, with Matt Dempsey playing with determination driving them on, and substitutes Pete Boyle & Jamal Branker running at the Glossop back four, there could be only one winner. With the final minute of the three added on the clock, the ball was won by an inspired Jamal on the Hyde right, he drove past the fullback, and cut the ball back for Pete Boyle who cleverly back healed it into the path of Dave McGurk who smashed it home from 6 yards to put the Tigers 2-1 up and celebrating all three points. |
