Hyde lost their unbeaten league record at Westfield Lane although they dominated the second half. New signing Walker crossed for Band but he connected badly on the volley with just the keeper to beat. A long ball forward drew out Bennett but the Hyde goalie was second to the ball and was lucky to see Frickley only hit the post. Frickley then had a number of corners and while the Hyde defence looked a little shaky, they coped adequately. Simon Yeo chested down a long ball into Banim's path, his shot was blocked but then fell back to Yeo who blasted over from twelve yards. Frickley went ahead on 35 minutes when a loose ball found the centre forward in the six yard box and he promptly fired home. Aspinall should have scored for Hyde on 47 minutes but he shot over from 4 yards in a scramble. A Steve Tobin corner was headed goalwards by Yeo but pushed out by the keeper, this led to a goalmouth scramble with Frickley clearing off the line. On 61 minutes a cross from the left wasn't dealt with and the unmarked centre forward knocked home his second. Steve Haw was unlucky when his header was pushed onto the crossbar following a Tobin cross. Frickley beat Hyde's offside trap on 81 minutes and their centre forward claimed his hat-trick by beating Bennett. Hyde scored a consolation in the 87th minute when Walker latched onto a pass and slotted in. Steve Haw thought he had scored a minute later but the linesman had his flag raised.
