Crook supporters arrived at Ewen Fields stating that they would be disappointed to lose, surprising considering the gap between the teams but they would make the trip back to Durham in good heart. Simon Yeo hit a post after just two minutes and Prince Moncrieffe shot wide from 20 yards. Hyde went infront on 11 minutes from the penalty spot, Paul Taylor calmly slotted home after a handball. The strong wind then forced Bennett to tip behind a corner kick after it dipped wickedly. Simon Yeo's snapshot was held by Riches in the Crook goal at his near post and Mark Howard had a good chance but shot straight at the keeper. The second half saw Moncrieffe go close when after some good work he shot over the Peter Band headed Yea's cross over the top. A very poor backpass by Kojoe Taylor was met by a forward but he shot over when he should have scored. Neil Hall's free kick landed straight in the keepers hands and from his long clearance, Paul Taylor let Jonny Bell get past him and he lobbed the ball over the advancing Bennett to equalise on 70 minutes. Jody Banim livened things up with a couple of good runs but Crook deserved another chance and now they have it on Wednesday night.
