This was a game in which Hyde, in their new all red strip, never really looked like losing. A cross from Rodwell was met by Yeo but he didn't connect well and the ball trickled behind for a goalkick. A Chris Dolby corner was the source of the next chance, Winsford 'keeper Bagnall punched the ball onto Yeo's head but the striker's effort floated over the crossbar. Yeo missed his third chance when he blasted over from twelve yards after Band had played him in. Graham Bennett made a superb reflex save down low to his right after a Winsford free kick was met with a header in the box. Hyde took the lead on 26 minutes when Brendan Aspinall, making his home debut, rose to power home Dolby's corner kick. Dolby himself then went close with a scorching volley from just outside the penalty area which must have brushed the outside of the post. Bagnall kept Winsford in the game in the second half when Dolby's shot was about to creep inside the post. Hyde doubled their lead on 73 minutes when Kojoe Taylor played in Simon Yeo who drilled past Bagnall from 18 yards. Winsford tried to get back into the game with a succession of corners but Hyde defended well each time and Bennett made an excellent save following a long free kick and header. The last action of the game saw Lloyd Richardson try his luck from 25 yards but his curling, dipping shot crashed against the angle of crossbar and post.
