Hyde had a chance on five minutes when a Neil Critchley free kick was met by John Grant but the strikers header went over when he should have done much better. On 29 minutes a Matty Taylor cross found Colin Hall in the area but Lancaster goalkeeper Mark Thornley got out well to block his effort. Lancaster's only real effort of the half arrived when Jimmy Love met a right wing cross but Richard Acton managed to tip over. The second half saw Gavin Salmon strike the crossbar with a cross and Matty Taylor force Thornley into another save. Hyde took the lead on 86 minutes when Peter Band's cross was headed across goal by Gavin Salmon but the ball struck unfortunate Lancaster defender Tom Nicholls and rolled past the stranded Mark Thornley and over the line. Thornley made an excellent save a minute later to deny John Grant but just to prove that we can't keep a clean sheet, Phil Brown equalised in the final minute with a great header. A big thank you to Mark Thornley in the Lancaster goal for keeping our fans entertained when the game faded (most of it!!) |
