The Tigers were unlucky not to claim all three points in the rearranged game with County

Hyde and Stockport County played out an enthralling 1-1 draw in this rearranged fixture at Ewen Fields last night.

Hyde had the better of the chances in this encounter. Including a missed penalty from Connor Hughes, who stepped up and smacked the post with his spot-kick. Hughes atoned for his miss in the second-half as he fired the hosts in-front with a driven shot from 25 yards out, but County responded almost instantly as they scored within a minute of going behind through Kristian Dennis.

This game saw many more chances for both sides compared to last month's abandoned clash. County were frustrated when the original fixture was abandoned at the end of March. Stockport had been winning 1-0 in that game before a sudden downpour forced the referee to abandon the game.

At the time of that game, County harboured ambitions of a late play-off push. However, four straight defeats following County's visit to Ewen Fields two and a half weeks ago means that a mid-table finish is more likely for the Hatters,

Hyde started the game brightly, some neat passing move resulted a succession of corners, though none managed to cause the County back-line too many problems. Pete Boyle also sent a shot straight at County goalkeeper Danny Hurst, who was undoubtedly one of his side's star performers on the night.

George Riley did have the ball in the back of the net shortly before the 20-minute mark. Riley had burst through from his right-back position and sent a low shot at goal, seeming to take a knick off a County player before going in. However, the assistant referee has his flag raised for a supposed alleged offside against Hyde striker Masterson.

County began to create chances as the half wore on. Robert Lofthouse played in Kristian Dennis, the latter rounded Ed Wilcynski before he squared the ball back to Lofthouse, who fired a shot wide of the Hyde goal. Lofthouse was again involved minutes later, he raced through on goal but Wilcynski came out confidently and saved Lofthouse's shot with his chest.

Hyde were given the opportunity to take the lead shortly after the half-hour mark. Ryan Masterson was deemed to have been brought down unlawfully by a County man, Connor Hughes stepped up and fired a powerful shot at goal, it smacked the right-hand post before it bounced out for a goal-kick.

Hyde were them lucky not to find themselves a goal down after County countered immediately following the missed penalty. Dennis bore down on goal with just Wilcynski to beat but the Hyde 'keeper again came to his side's rescue, this time saving the effort with his legs.

It was then Hurst's turn to keep his side in the game in the 40th minute. Jake Hibbs sent in a great cross in from the right-hand side, it was met superbly by Pete Boyle but Hurst somehow scrambled across the goal to pull off a save that denied a certain-goal.

Somehow, the sides went in drawing 0-0 at half-time. The second period saw the chances dry up slightly for both sides in the opening stages of the half. This was until the game saw two goals in the space of two minutes just before the hour-mark.

Hyde managed to take the lead from their first meaningful effort of the half. Connor Hughes proved to be a live-wire all evening and saw his long-range effort nestle in the County net on 55 minutes, after he had cut inside from the left-wing and fired a low shot from around 25 yards out.

County wasted no time I'm going about their search for an equaliser. They attacked straight from the re-start and found the goal to bring them back level. Lofthouse slotted the ball into the back of the net following good play by Chris Sharp on the right-hand side.

Hughes was just inches wide form getting himself and Hyde another in the 68th minute as he curled a shot just over the right-hand upright following a pass from substitute Erike Sousa.

The best chance for Hyde to regain the lead was in the 78th minute when Luke Giverin twice came close to netting his first goal for the club. The midfielder was twice denied by the legs of the impressive Hurst in the County goal. The Tigers went close again in the final minutes as Sousa blasted way over from a few yards out, the ball just wouldn't go in as the Tigers had to settle for a draw.
