The Tigers had the first chance of the game in the fourth minute, when Luke Giverin was brought down thirty-five yards from goal. Up stepped captain Josh Brizell to try from distance, fortunately for Peter Crook in the Harrogate net, Brizell’s shot took deflection and was easy for the keeper.
Connor Hughes and Erike Sousa both had chances in the opening twenty minutes but just could not produce that moment of magic to break the deadlock. In the twenty-fifth minute it was full back Kyle Brownhill’s chance to try and break the deadlock.
Ben Holmes picked out Hughes on the left, he flicked the ball on towards Brownhill, who raced forward and drilled the ball towards goal, but it whistled past the far post and out for a goal kick.
The visitors took then punished the Tigers for some sloppy passing and took the lead with eight minutes of the half remaining.
Hyde captain Josh Brizell’s poor pass allowed Ryan Fallowfield a free shot at goal. Ed Wilczynski parried the initial shot, unfortunately straight to Paul Clayton who just had to apply the simplest of finishes.
The Tigers nearly levelled seconds after the second half. The ball was played forward for Erike Sousa, Peter Crook slipped as he attempted to collect the ball, which allowed Sousa to race through. Unfortunately, for the winger, he slipped as he tried to keep the ball in play.
The visitors had chances to kill off the game, but Ed Wilczynski denied firstly Clayton one on one. The striker was played through one on one, and had only the keeper to beat. Wilczynski stood up strong and blocked Clayton’s shot with his body and conceded a corner.
Ten minutes later and Wilczynski was on hand again to keep the Tigers in the game. A inswing corner caused a goalmouth scramble to which Hyde cleared, but it fell straight to Ryan Fallowfield on the edge of the box, he hit a half volley which looked like it was going to whistle into the bottom conrer but somehow, Wilczynski flung himself across the goal and denied the midfielder a goal.
Then it was the Tigers who made the visitors made pay for their missed chances, when in the ninety-second minute Perry NG levelled from two yards out.
A smart throw in from James Burke over the Harrogate defence allowed Sousa to drill the ball across goal. It looked as if the ball was about to be turned into the net by a Harrogate defender, but somehow Crook clawed the ball away. Unfortunately, for the shot stopper it landed straight onto the head of Perry NG who could not miss from close range.
