Subs: Simon Woodhead, Jermaine Manners, Sam Polli. The Tigers progressed to the quarter Finals of the League Cup after a comfortable victory over Ossett. Hyde went ahead after just 6 minutes after some defensive dallying let in Jody Banim who promptly squared for Mickey Beirne to tap home his second goal for the club. It was 2-0 after 22 minutes, Paul Robertson swung in a corner which Mark Beeston headed towards goal and Jody Banim provided the final touch on the goal line. Six minutes was all it took for the next goal, Robertson made a great run down the left before cutting inside and laying off to Steve Tobin who lashed the ball home from the edge of the penalty area via a deflection off Jody Banim. On 32 minutes it was 4-0, Phil Trainer's trickery on the left fooled the Ossett defence and his ball across the face of goal was lashed in by Jody Banim at the far post. On 67 minutes it was five, Tobin played in Carl Laurie who rolled the ball past the advancing goalkeeper with ease to claim his first goal for the club. As ever, Hyde couldn't manage a clean sheet and on 89 minutes Jermaine Manners lashed home a consolation for Ossett from the edge of the penalty area. Hyde have now won the group as Altrincham have drawn 2 games and qualify as one of the best 8 group winners with 10 points and 15 goals from 4 games. |
