Hyde qualified for one of the three quarter finals after a morale boosting win over first division Stocksbridge, a win against Ossett in the final game would ensure qualification to the league cup. The scoring began on 4 minutes when Peter Band threaded a ball through towards Simon Yeo, Stocksbridge goalkeeper Ross Turner came and missed and so Simon Yeo rolled the ball into an empty goal. Hyde went two up on 19 minutes, Matty Taylor chased the ball down the right and cut back from the goal line to set up Steve Tobin who hit the crossbar with a thunderous drive and Mickey Beirne headed in the rebound onhis full debut. Just after the break a Neil Hall cross was flicked on byPeter Band and then headed into his own goal by the unfortunate Adam Longden as the Tigers made it three. On 51 minutes Stocksbridge found a way back into the game when a cross from the right was headed home by Liam Robinson. It took Hyde just three minutes to regain their 3 goal cushion, John Foster played the ball in from the right and Simon Yeo scored his second despite the best efforts of Turner in the Stocksbridge goal. On 70 minutes Adam Longden made up for his earlier mistake by scoring in the right goal when he poked home from close range following a bit of a goalmouth scramble. Simon Yeo converted his hat-trick on 79 minutes when he steered home a ball from Jody Banim.
