Attendance: 553 Hyde FC: David Carnell, Josh Brizell (Stefan Cox), Adam Griffin, Kelvin Lomax, Luke Ashworth, Mark Allott, David Poole, Liam Tomsett, Scott Spencer, Phil Jevons (Matthew Harris), Matthew Cassidy (Matthew Blinkhorn). Subs not used: Callum Byrne, Ashley Frith. Forest Green Rovers: Russell, Hodgkiss, Stokes, Bangura, Klukowski, Forbes, Taylor, Oshodi, Rowe (Styche), Norwood, Racine. Unused subs: Koroma, Viera, Asafu-Adjaye, Marsh. Hyde succumbed to their second home defeat in a week, with James Norwood’s goal early in the second half enough to separate the two sides. It was a frenetic start to the game, but it quickly trailed off. Hyde carved out two chances in as many minutes, but then failed to create anything really clean cut. Phil Jevons played a superb ball to free David Poole down the right in the first minute; he cut inside and darted towards goal but a heavy touch allowed the keeper to gather. A minute later and the same man rattled the woodwork. After Spencer controlled a cross into the box it was played across for Poole who hit it first time, but unfortunately it came crashing back off the bar. Forest Green’s first real threat was having a goal disallowed for offside, before James Norwood saw a one on one saved late on. However, it only took a few seconds after the restart for the visitors to gain the lead. Prolific front-man James Norwood with the goal, and he almost added a second ten minutes later after a good touch from James Rowe but Dave Carnell saved well. Sandwiched inbetween was a Liam Tomsett strike from the edge of the box, but it lacked any real power and Sam Russell kept it out. Try as they might, Hyde just couldn’t break down a resolute and well drilled Forest Green side. The visitors thought they had doubled their lead with ten minutes left. Chris Stokes rising to meet the corner, a header that was well saved by Carnell, before pouncing on the rebound which the keeper could do little about, but the ball had swung out of play. The Tigers only managed to test Russell once more, Adam Griffin hitting a rasping drive from distance that he finger tipped over. |
