Attendance: 1457 Kidderminster Harriers: N Vaughan, L Vaughan, Demtriou, Dunkly, Gowling (Williams), Vincent (Storer), Briggs, Watkins, Rowe, Malbon (Johnson), Blissett. Unused subs: Lewis, Peniket Hyde FC: Ashley Frith, Luke Ashworth, Kelvin Lomax, Ben Dennis (Andrew Pearson), Josh Brizell, David Poole, Callum Byrne (Stefan Cox), Tunji Moses (Phil Jevons), Liam Tomsett, Ryan Crowther, Scott Spencer. Subs not used: Robbie Williams, Alex Brown. Hyde slumped to another away defeat at Aggborough as the home side claimed the 3 points which pulled them further away from the drop zone. It was probably Hyde’s worst 45 minutes of the season in the first half as they went in 2 goals behind. With a flu bug spreading through the squad, Scott McNiven decided not to risk Alex Brown or Phil Jevons and Ryan Crowther and Tunji Moses came in. It was actually the Tigers who started the brighter and a nice interchange of passes between Ryan Crowther and David Poole saw the latter’s shot well blocked by Chey Dunkley. Miscommunication between Ben Dennis and Ashley Frith saw them collide but Luke Ashworth was there to clear the danger, although they did fall behind on 16 minutes when England C international JamesVincent slalomed through and scored as Frith got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out. They were soon 2 goals behind when Frith, under no pressure, scuffed a back pass straight to the lively Ryan Rowe who rounded the ‘keeper to score and leave the Tigers facing an uphill battle. Kidderminster were threatening to run riot and Adam Watkins fired a 25 yarder against the post following a neat corner routine. Right on half-time Poole had a chance to get one back but just couldn’t quite stretch enough. Hyde came out much better in the second half as the manager changed formation and Poole jinked his way past a couple of defenders and forced a terrific save out of man of the match Nathan Vaughan. From a rare Kiddy break they forced a corner but neither Nathan Blisset or Josh Gowling could force the ball home. Hyde introduced Jevons from the bench and he linked up well with the other players and it was his through ball that found Scott Spencer who got in ahead of Dunkley but Vaughan tipped round the post and Jevons headed the resultant corner just over. Despite dominating possession it was the home side who added a third goal on the break when the pacey Rowe got in and cooly beat Frith one-on-one, to make it a long trip home for the Tigers who are in danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the table. |
