The Tigers gave a display of passion, passing and panache in a great first half, unfortunately the second 45 minutes was poor, pitiful and painful. Jody Banim showed them the way inside the first five minutes when he combined with Yeo before shooting over from eighteen yards. The Tigers had a great chance to go ahead on eight minutes when Simon Yeo won a penalty kick. Paul Taylor struck the kick to the right but Marine's debutant goalkeeper, Mike Stewart, leapt to push the ball away. Hyde's dominance soon paid dividends on 18 minutes when Mark Beeston's bullet header found its way into the roof of the net following a Neil Hall corner. Marine found their way into the game more as the half progressed but it was always Hyde who looked the more likely to get a further breakthrough. The second Half saw Hyde make mistakes that were not present in the first half, in particular their passing was not up to scratch. Marine started to get on top and it was no surprise when they equalised from the penalty spot on 66 minutes. David Gamble converted after Courtney had been upended in the penalty area. Marine pressed for a winner but they found Kurt Edgington commanding his area well and during the last few minutes, after the introduction of Lee Wilkinson it was Hyde who could have won the game with a little more luck.
