Report by Luke Edwards

Hyde made it 8 wins out of 8 with this emphatic win in Cumbria. Workington had been a bogey team to Hyde since they have been in Conference North, having failed to beat them in 12 attempts. Gary LOwe had re-shuffle his team in the warm up as Brett Renshaw went down in the warm up so Mike Aspin came in with Andy Pearson moving to centre half. Hyde also welcomed back Scott Spencer from injury and Adam Birchall came in to replace Chris Worsley.

The game was played in a strong blustery wind, which meant that passing football would be the way to go. Phil McLuckie headed over early on for Workington, and then Hyde had a let off when Gareth Arnison beat the offside trap and went through one on one, but failed to hit the target with his effort. This miss was to prove costly as Danny Broadbent made them pay a minute later when he won the ball back and bulldozed his way through and finished confidently across Aaron Taylor in the home goal. Spencer made it two shortly after getting across his man at the near post to convert a delicious Adam Griffin cross from the left. Arnison again missed the target after an underhit pass from Callum Byrne had let him in. Hyde were keeping the ball and passing it around for fun by now, though Adam Boyd had a shot well held by David Carnell right on half time.

Workington came out much brighter 2nd half and Carnell saved well from a Boyd pile driver. But it was Hyde who added a 3rd on the hour mark Ryan Crowther scoring after a good one two with Adam Birchall. Workington were reduced to 10 men after Dan Dillon was shown a 2nd yellow card after tugging back Crowther. Spencer then came close to making it four when his curling shot hit the bar, and he also shot wide after a one two with Broadbent and also Adam Griffin fired a free kick just wide.
Hyde saw out the game comfortably as they played keep ball. Hyde have yet to concede a goal away from home this season.
