Hyde won this Cheshire Derby with a hard fought victory over Altrincham. Scott Spencer scored 2 magnificent goals as Hyde maintained their 100% record and opened up the gap to 2 points at the top of the table.

It was a first half of 2 halves and it was Hyde who started off the brighter and they took the lead on 11 minutes with a well worked free-kick which was dummied to Spencer and the ball flew past visiting goalkeeper Stuart Coburn. Spencer had another chance when he weaved his way through but was stopped by an excellent last ditch tackle from Ryan Brown.

Altrincham responded with former Stalybridge and Morecambe striker Michael Twiss firing horribly wide from a good position. Altrincham did equalise from a corner, Hyde were down to 10 men due to Joel Richardson being off the field for treatment and so there was a gap at the far post where former Tiger Mark Lees nodded in unmarked at the back post from the set play.

Altrincham were getting on top and dominated the latter stages of the 1st half and Damian Reeves had the chance to put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time but he headed a superb Ryan Brown cross headed just wide.

Hyde came out of the blocks brightly 2nd half and it was Spencer again who got the lead back for Hyde as he showed good feet and curled and exquistite shot into the top corner to give Coburn no chance.

Altrincham responded with Twiss shooting horribly wide from a good position when he had men better placed in the middle and Reeves heading narrowly wide again and David Carnell also saved a Reeves shot at the near post. After this the sting went out of Altrincham and Hyde should have really increased their lead with both Adam Birchall and Mike Whitwell having shots saved by Coburn but in the end Hyde confortably saw out the game.
