Cheadle Town: Gill, Danks, Quigley, Roe, Edwards, Humphries, Taun, Mannion, Coyne, Pearce, Habershon. Subs: Woodward, Lee, Daly
Cheadle should have gone into an early lead at Ewen Fields tonight but Andy Pearce could only shoot straight at Bennett when he was clean through on goal. On 10 minutes it was Hyde who went ahead, Yeo crossed from the left and Dave Hanson pounced onto a mistake by Habershon to head into the corner. Again Yeo crossed from the left and goalkeeper Gill saved well from Hanson and then from Yeo who tried his luck from the rebound. Both Yeo and Hanson shot wide from further attempts before on 43 minutes Gill came to collect a ball on the edge of the area but fumbled to Hanson who knocked the ball sideways for Jody Banim to score an easy goal. Gill saved twice from Hanson before half time. On 48 minutes Hanson crossed for Simon Yeo to loop a header over Gill and in off the far post. It was a story of more missed chances though as Gill made more saves from Banim and Hanson. A Neil Hall cross on 70 minutes was emphatically headed home by Dave Hanson as the Tigers were looking to make it a rout. Simon Yeo fired past substitute goalkeeper Daly on 80 minutes to take the scoring to 5 and on 87 minutes Jody Banim got the sixth after Salmon had done all the hard work. Tony Coyne bagged a consolation for Cheadle a minute later but by then it was far too late.
