Worksop took all three points at Ewen Fields with a performance that left Hyde asking all kinds of questions about their title credentials. It had all looked so good for Hyde in the opening 15 minutes. Peter Band hit the crossbar from close range after Banim's chip found him inside the area, Dave Hanson stretched at the far post but couldn't direct Foster's cross into the goal. Jody Banim broke down the left but shot wildly wide of the target before on 14 minutes it was JodyBanim who turned and shot the home team into the lead from the edge of the box. This was as good as it got for Hyde as Worksop took control. Graham Bennett made an excellent save to push a long shot round the post. Veteran striker Kenny Clark hit the side netting for the visitors after Chris Waddle's long pass picked him out. Worksop equalised on 37 minutes when Gavin Smith stormed into the area and squared for Steve Johnson to net from close range. Centre-half Darren Brookes had a great chance to put the visitors into the lead but headed wide from Waddle's free-kick. Kirk Jackson made no mistake on 43 minutes as he rifled home from the edge of the area after Matty Taylor blocked but didn't clear an earlier goal attempt. The game was over five minutes after the break as Worksop went 3-1 up with the best goal of the night. Waddle crossed from the right and Linden Whitehead glanced home a header from six yards. Holmshaw's clearance wasn't defended by Hyde and substitute Marsh found himself in a great position to score but blasted over with just Bennett to beat. Hyde tried to up the pace a little when Banim's far post cross was headed across goal by Band but Brookes defended well under pressure from Hanson. Jackson was unlucky not to score his second when he headed wide from Townsend's cross but Gavin Salmon hit a post for Hyde after Banim and Tobin had combined down the right.
