Vauxhall Motors came from behind to take all three points at Ewen Fields thanks to two well taken goals from Leighton McGivern and Hyde’s inability to take advantage when on top.

The Tigers, desperate for points on the edge of the relegation zone, started strongly and missed a number of chances in the first fifteen minutes. Kevin Holsgrove contrived to head wide with the goal at his mercy and then Dale Johnson, through on goal, could only strike Scott Tynan’s legs. Holsgrove had a further chance with a long range effort before debutant Matty Barlow was fouled in the box by Andy Taylor on fifteen minutes. Andy Smart made no mistake from the spot to put Hyde in front. Other chances came and went but Hyde didn’t capitalise.

McGivern grabbed his first on 36 minutes when he got a touch to a cross to divert it into the top corner. His second came five minutes after the break when he picked up a long ball and ran through the Hyde defence and rifled the ball home. It was a goal worthy of winning any game and despite late pressure from the home side, Vauxhall hung on to claim victory and make Hyde pay dearly for the early chances they missed.
