In a pulsating tie at wet and windy Ewen Fields, Hyde scored twice in the last twelve minutes to snatch a dramatic draw and take the game to a replay on Tuesday. There was even more drama in the last few minutes as Hyde's Adam Dugdale received a second yellow card and new on loan signing, Mattie Burke struck a post.

Earlier it had looked plain sailing for the visitors as they twice established two goal lead but failed to take account of the fighting qualities of the Tigers.

Stuart Pierpoint put Nuneaton in front on 22 minutes when his intended cross was caught in the wind and found the back of the net. Substitute Paul Stacey added another on 30 minues when he scored direct from a corner again assisted by the increasing gale. The game looked all over but Hyde pulled another bizarre goal back seven minutes later when an intended clearance struck David McNiven and found its way into the goal.

Nuneaton were awarded a penalty on 62 minutes after a foul by Hyde's Chris Lynch. Rob Oddy's kick was parried by Hyde 'keeper Michael Jones, but he followed up to score. Scott Mooney was introduced for the luckless Lynch and immediately gave the home side impetus upfront. He pulled a goal back on 78 minutes when he scored from the edge of the area and then Hyde's player manager, Neil Tolson drilled the ball home for an equaliser with eight minutes remaining to set up a dramatic finale.
