On a damp night in Cheshire Nathan Arnold, Tom Manship and Ricky Mercer all sustained serious knocks, whilst Tolson himself suffered a gash to his eye after a clash of heads. The game followed a similar pattern to previous games with the Tigers having the best of the early exchanges with Kevin Holsgrove bringing the best out of Nantwich ‘keeper, Ben Chapman before a lapse in concentration at the back allowed Omar Mahmood to side foot the home side into the lead on twenty minutes. Hyde continued to have most of the play, but Nantwich increased their lead on 36 minutes, when Liam Dawson curled a vicious free kick against the bar and in the ensuing melee, Sam Madley lashed the ball home. At the start of the second period Hyde were forced to bring on Arnold and David McNiven due to injuries and the Tigers pulled a goal back on 60 minutes when Arnold picked up a through ball and slotted home. But Hyde’s joy was short-lived as they conceded another goal from a defensive howler four minutes later to seal their fate. However the effort was there and for the last twenty minutes Nantwich struggled to get out of their half. Scott McNiven struck a post and Tolson twice went close, but it was too little too late for the injury stricken Tigers after their defensive mistakes earlier. |
