Match Details: Monday 19th October 2009 Manchester Premier Cup 1st Round
Attendance: 102 Irlam FC: Lambert Cahoon Ardayfio Hilton Roberts Rowcroft Palmer Jones Tymon Hutchinson Williams Subs: Swift Lyons Green Davies Brewer Hyde secured a rare cup win on Monday at Irlam Town with a comfortable victory in the Manchester Premier Cup. Hero for the Tigers was Kevin Holsgrove who scored a hat-trick. Neil Tolson grabbed the other for the Tigers before limping off near the end with a foot injury. It was a much changed Hyde side from Saturday but they were ahead on five minutes when Holsgrove rifled home from the edge of the area with the help of a slight deflection. David Mc Niven brought the best out of Lee Lambert in the Irlam goal before Lee Rick was clearly brought down the area but Hyde’s appeals were waved away. Aidan Kirkbride limped off with a thigh injury before Irlam grabbed a surprise equaliser on 21 minutes when Christopher Palmer scored from close range after a good save from Michael Jones. Hyde continued to have all the play and McNiven set up Tolson for Hyde’s second on the half hour mark. The Tigers should have had more but it was not until the 75th minute that Holsgrove hammered home his second as he broke clear on the left. Five minutes later he added a superb cameo effort to secure the victory and take Hyde into the second round. |
