Match Details: Tuesday 25th November 2008 F.A. Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round Replay
Attendance: 263 Hednesford Town: Brock Hall Burley Gomes Marshall Sheppard Durrell Barnett Dyer Draper Subs: Maguire Briggs Platt Stamps Hyde had a dreadful night in the West Midlands on Tuesday going down to a heavy defeat at the hands of Unibond League leaders, Hednesford Town. In all honesty it could have been worse as Craig Dootson made a string of excellent saves, whilst at the same time the home side missed a series of chances. It all started going wrong for the Tigers as early as the fourteenth minute when Steve Williams, unsure of his footing in a frozen goalmouth, steered the ball past Dootson. Chris Brass almost did the same soon after, but was saved by the post. Hednesford increased their lead on 33 minutes when Ross Draper pounced on an error from Wayne Maden, who was subsequently replaced at half-time. Hyde’s hope of a second half fight-back were dashed within 30 seconds of the restart as Ross Dyer beat Dootson to the ball for the home side’s third. It was one-way traffic now and Dootson could do nothing as the impressive Tyrone Barnett grabbed the fourth and Sam Hall the fifth as both shots took slight deflections to find the back of the net. Mark Briggs missed an absolute sitter and Adam Oakes scrambled another off the line as Hyde were well and truly hammered on the night and could have no complaints. |
