Attendance: 275 Hyde United: Craig Dootson, David Morley, Adam Oakes, Chris Brass, Steve Williams, Mark Innes, Nathan Wharton (Neil Tolson), Lee Cartwright, Chris Simm (Phillip Marsh), Wayne Maden, Nicky Clee. Subs not used: Karl Munroe, David Owens, Elliot Bernstein. Hednesford Town: Brock, Hall, Burley, Gomes, Harvey, Stamps, Sheppard, Durrell, Barnett, Dyer, Draper. Subs: Briggs for Durrell, Platt for Hall, McGuire. In an entertaining game at Ewen Fields, the honours were even and both sides now replay on Tuesday. Hednesford had more of the possession but they failed to take their chances, whilst Hyde were dangerous on the break through the lively Chris Simm. It was Simm who had two early chances for Hyde, before Craig Dootson kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save before Steve Williams cleared off the line following a scramble. However Ross Dyer did give the visitors the lead on 25 minutes when he scored at the far post. Dootson made another fine save before Simm netted at the other end before being ruled, probably wrongly, offside. However he scored within two minutes later when he converted a cross from Adam Oakes. Hednesford had much of the play in the second period and Mark Briggs was unlucky not to score as he struck a post with his first touch after coming on as substitute. Dootson kept Hyde in the game with two more excellent saves but the home side were dangerous on the break and should have clinched the game in the dying minutes when Nicky Clee broke away and just needed a pass inside to the unmarked Phil Marsh. The pass lacked pace and the excellent Decio Gomes just managed to clear to send the game to a replay. |
