Managers of Hyde United & Hyde FC
Darren Kelly April 2016 to June 2019
Darren Kelly played for Derry City, Carlisle United, Portadown, York City, Stalybridge Celtic, Garforth Town, Frickley Athletic and Scarborough Athletic in a long career that saw European cometition.
He coached at York City and Sunderland before taking a managerial role at Oldham Athletic in 2015. He was quickly dispensed with and then took over at FC Halifax Town where again he lasted just a short period of time before parting company.
Kelly took over at Hyde in April 2016 with possible relegation looming over the club. He initially joined on a temporary basis with six games left he had lots of work to do but unfortunately all six games ended in defeat and The Tigers went down to the Northern Premier League First Division North.
He applied for the position on a permanent basis and was the succesful candidate and put together a promising squad for the start of the 2016/17 season. After an initially promising start, the youthful side faltered but with a revamp and a few more experienced players they finished the season well, losing just two league games after Christmas, and finished a creditable, after three successive relegations, tenth. | |
