Match Details: Saturday 20th February 1999 Northern Premier League Premier Division
Attendance: 396 Hyde United: Kurt Edgington Kojoe Taylor (George Switzer) Richard Annan Gus Wilson Paul Taylor Tony Rodwell Chris Dolby (Prince Moncrieffe) Neil Hall Simon Yeo (Peter Band) Steve Haw Lloyd Richardson Bishop Auckland: Not available The Tigers started with a goal in the 2nd minute, Paul Taylor crossing from the left, Lloyd Richardson volleying at the keeper and Simon Yeo pouncing on the loose ball. Paul Taylor then made a super tackle on the edge of the Hyde penalty area before Steve Haw's shot on the turn was well saved by the Bishop keeper. On 14 minutes Kojoe Taylor crossed from the right and Simon Yeo buried his header into the back of the net. The 30th minute saw a contender for goal of the season when good play led to Yeo playing the ball across goal for Chris Dolby to hammer home. Early in the second half Yeo pulled away from the defence but shot past the post with the goalkeeper beaten. He soon made up for that when on 55 minutes Dolby held off the centre half so that Simon Yeo could poke the ball past the oncoming goalkeeper from the edge of the box. The Tigers finished off with Simon Yeo scoring his 20th goal in 14 games on 83 minutes when he slotted home a pass from Hall. Bishop Auckland offered very little going forward and Edgington only made one save of any note when he pushed a header round the post. |
