Match Details: Thursday 26th December 2013 Conference Premier
Attendance: 1882 Macclesfield Town: Taylor Halls Williams Connor Andrew Mackreth Turnbull (Winn) Whitaker Rowe (Lewis) Boden (Kay) Holroyd Subs Not used:- Bolton Gnahoua Hyde fell to yet another defeat as they lost in the Cheshire Derby to Macclesfield. The Tigers got off the worst possible start at Macclesfield captain Paul Turnbull curling a brilliant free-kick into the top corner in the 6th Minute after Liam Tomsett had fouled Danny Rowe. The Tiers responded with Danny Carlton playing a lovely ball over the top and David Poole's half volley being tipped over by Rhys Taylor. Poole was involved again when he latched onto a loose Steve Williams back pass and appeared to be shoved in the back but referee Declan Ford was having none of it. Hyde were coming into the game more and Joe Connor was lucky when he sliced Josh Brizell's into Taylor's hands. It was another free-kick that increased Macclesfield when Danny Andrew's free-kick went under the wall and beat Lawrence Vigeroux. The rest of the first half was fairly uneventful although Chris Holroyd had a header which was well saved by Vigeroux. Scott McNiven made a double substitution bringing on Scott McNiven and Louis Almond and they started the half brighter and it was Almond who had the best moment as he beat 4 home defenders but his cross was headed over by a stretching Liam Tomsett. The game's first flashpoint came when Holroyd seem to leave a foot in on Vigeroux the referee waved play on but fortunatly Vigeroux was able to recover and smother the shot. Then Alex Brown fouled Andy Halls who appeared to kick out at Brown which sparked a melee between both sets of players and which ended with D'Arcy O'Connor being booked, Halls was involved again when he landed on Louis Almond and left the Blackpool loanee with a bad cut to the head. Macclesfield Substitute Peter Winn had a good chance to make it 3-0 but Vigeroux saved well and O'Connor blocked the follow-up. Holroyd finally got his goal when he headed in a Jack Mackreth cross to leave Hyde still winless in this season. |
