Oh wait! It was a semi-final I'm just reading, well it didn't seem like one. A chance of a cup final, a semi at home against our biggest rivals, it should have been a proud, passionate display avenging our boxing day defeat, instead we got... I don't really know what we got, apart from a good hammering. Celtic got off to a great start when Gus Wilson's mistake let in Tony Sullivan in the first minute and the forward squared for Nigel Evans who scored with ease. It was soon two when Steve Jones headed home unmarked from a corner kick. On 33 minutes it was 3-0 when Hyde failed to clear a corner and Steve Jones flicked in his second from six yards. Soon after the break it was four when another mistake let in Steve Jones for his hat-trick. Celtic took their feet off the pedal from then on in but still found more scoring chances but couldn't convert. Hyde did manage a late goal when Jody Banim's drive hit a divot and flew past Gary Ingham. Celtic thoroughly deserved their win and the chance to play in the final, they also confirmed that they are the pride of Tameside whether Hyde like it or not. Sorry if this report seems a bit sarcastic but after that, what did you expect? |
