The most important thing Hyde had to do on Saturday was come away from the Valley Stadium with three points, which they duly did. Redditch had lost their management team and half their players during a traumatic week, but it is never an easy place to play and so it proved but it was the Tigers who secured the victory they desperately needed, making it two away wins on the bounce which is getting into un-chartered territory

As a spectacle the game was dire not helped by a tacky uneven pitch and swirling wind, but the Tigers stuck to their task and overall deserved their hard fought victory. The only goal came on 39 minutes when Dale Johnson was wrestled to the floor in the area, which was spotted by the Assistant and referee Sarah Garratt had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. At a time when female officials are in the limelight, Ms Garratt proved more than equal to the task and had an excellent game overall. Andy Smart converted the spot-kick to ease the Tigers’ nerves.

Josh McKenzie had earlier forced a great save from Russell Saunders but chances were few and far between in this dreadful game. Scott Mooney twice should have added to Hyde’s league later on forcing the Tigers to nervously having to endure some late pressure, but they hung on to take the points. It was certainly not pretty but it was the result which mattered as Hyde moved eleven points clear of Redditch in the League basement.
